NFL Season is upon us...

Now that the NFL lockout is over, training camp has started, and the season is fast approaching. No this is not an NFL preview blog, instead I will be focusing on drunken events that have occurred in the parking lots. I have stated before that I could care less if another NFL game is ever played on the field, the only part of football I care about is the tailgating that happens before and or after games. Football players have a sense of entitlement that somehow is formed in the High School years that lasts a lifetime, I despise this so I will not be giving them any additional attention. They think they are modern day gladiators of some sort. Gladiators fought, if you want to feel like that while playing a sport, play hockey, drop the gloves and fight.

Calling all assholes suggestion piece: Food review

So it was suggested that I try a food review in my Calling All Assholes campaign. I love to eat, so this naturally seems like a great idea. Thank you Danielle (you know who you are) for suggesting it. Not only is this a great idea because it gives me an excuse to try a place I have been eying up for a few weeks now, but I figure it is an opportunity for me to show some range by critiquing something in a positive light for a change.

Here are a few of my favorite Tweets that I put out this past week 7/18 - 7/25... (for those not familiar with Twitter, RT means re-tweet, basically means I re-posted someones tweet)

Self psychoanalysis

Have you ever tried to do a psychoanalysis on yourself? Granted I know that most of you are not versed in or actually have an educational background on actual psychology or psychiatry. I myself am in the same situation with not background, but I found myself literally and metaphorically laying on the couch last night trying to psychoanalyze myself. I would like to thank Adolf Hitler for this experience. I am not a Nazi (Even though my last name is of German decent) nor do I have an interest in the bigotry that is behind Nazi propagandists. I have a deep interest in history, and found myself watching a PBS documentary called "Inside the mind of Adolf Hitler".

The shameless art of self promotion.

Self promotion is a shameless art which anyone with something to promote must go through the rigors of. Even I go through the self whoring act myself, even though it is on a much smaller scale. I leave comments on other blogs and sign with my name and blog address. I have my blog URL displayed on my Twitter and Facebook pages... I'm just trying to get exposure at this early juncture. I have a small following in regards to blog traffic, but no matter how small, they are my audience and I am trying to keep posts flowing. As I've mentioned in earlier posts, the past few days are very difficult on me, but here I am putting out small posts just to keep momentum going and keep the blog out in the public eye. I am not writing this blog for financial gain, I do not make any money off of it. I do this as an outlet, for my own personal enjoyment and or sanity.

Just a quick thought on our sensitive society

How is it that we as a society have become so sensitive? Whether it is the James Harrison:Confessions of an NFL Hitman in the latest issue of Men's Journal (http://www.mensjournal.com/jamesharrison) or the fact that "Pearl Harbor" and "World War II" are trending on Twitter after the USA lost to Japan in the Women's World Cup, just about everyone is offended in some way... Even me. I am offended on how sensitive people have become.

Be Patient...

Please be patient with me if the posts are not as frequent the next week or so. Thursday, July 21st is the anniversary of my son Nolan's birthday/passing, he would have been 4 this year. This portion of the summer season is extremely tough on me as I carry a feeling of loss that can never be filled or replaced. My heart and mind are so preoccupied leading up to this day, I am more irritable, lack concentration and struggle to feel any emotion outside the realm of anger and sadness. I feel at times like an anti-social or an introvert and go into my own world of solitude as I am haunted by memories of being the lone pallbearer for Nolan's burial.

Calling all assholes!!!

I have my son today so this is not going to be a new post of sorts, but it is an invitation! Calling all assholes is something I was thinking about for a while now. This concept involves reader participation. I want reader feedback on possible blog topics. What to you want to read about? It could be general thoughts on situations, current events, drunken mishaps... hell, I'll also give you advice if you want it (Why not? If Dr. Phil can do it...)  Also, I was thinking about a Q&A blog session. I am quite opinionated so fire away, ask me some questions, I will give just about anything a go in this forum (FYI, I will not go into the details of my divorce... somethings are just too personal). Leave your thoughts in the comments section below, on twitter, if you are friends with me on facebook hit me up there, or email me (Manifesto.Idiot@gmail.com)!

 Hoping for some good feedback!

Kenny Chesney plays Buffalo and a Jimmy Buffett Tailgate breaks out:

To my knowledge, Jimmy Buffett has never played here in Buffalo, so unless you are a Parrothead from this area and have traveled to see Jimmy Buffett, you may be unfamiliar with the type of tailgating that takes place. This drunken event that we are about to get into takes place in early August of 2005, less than 2 months after the PNC Park Jimmy Buffett concert, which some of you may recall from the "Drunkest Weekend of my Life parts 1 & 2" blogs. The Summer of 2005 was quite the alcohol fueled adventure that I fondly look back on as my "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

Almost an incident free holiday weekend... Almost.

Disclaimer: If anyone takes any racial undertones within portions of this next tale as bigotry, you are looking too much into it. Some words that may be used are for descriptive purposes only.

We are on day 2 of the consecutive days spent with my ex-wife. Day one was fairly uneventful and actually pleasant to partake in a day as a family, except for the back-seat driving that was mentioned in the last blog. We had taken Cole down to the newly developed Central Warf here in Buffalo. It was fun to take the boy to a miniature beach that had been constructed in the heart of the Warf. We walked along the water showing him the different boats that are along the shore line and then took him for a boat ride on the Queen City Water Ferry. Nothing exciting to write home about, but I enjoy being on and around the water and want to share that with my son.

I am not an asshole all of the time...

I am not an asshole all of the time, I just wanted to shed light on this. Sure, maybe when I was younger I was more volatile, but now that I am grown, I’ve mellowed a bit. When I am with my son my outbursts are far and few between. I have a general sense of calm and happiness when I am with my son Cole.
